The Lotus Seed teapot is one of the classic Yixing purple clay teapot shapes. Its body is round and plump, resembling the form of a lotus seed, with soft and elegant lines. The body is carved with pine branch patterns using gold gilding craftsmanship—pine trees symbolize perseverance and longevity, and paired with “lotus seed”, it carries the auspicious meaning of “continuous longevity” (a homophonic pun in Chinese for “pine and longevity”). Crafted from original ore Tianqing clay, it combines the clay’s calm texture with the exquisite carved pine branches, retaining the primitive simplicity of purple clay while boasting striking decorative details.
