This Longchu Teapot is an innovative variant of the traditional Zhuchi (Column Base) Teapot, a classic handmade Yixing purple clay teapot style. It replaces the classic “ring ear handle” with a “dragon-shaped teapot handle”, combining the stability of the Zhuchi Teapot with the vividness of dragon patterns. As one of the “Mansheng Eighteen Styles” of Yixing purple clay teapots, the Zhuchi Teapot draws inspiration from the “column base stone” in ancient Chinese architecture—a stone pier that supports wooden columns. Featuring a shape that is small at the top and large at the bottom, rounded and solid, with a tightly fitting lid and mouth, it is a representative of “stability and grace” among round Yixing purple clay teapots.
